"They are crazy, the Romans!" is just one of the many, classic quotes that the popular cartoon about Asterix has contributed with. The comic was created in1959 by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, where it appeared in France and Belgium in the magazine Pilote. It quickly became a great success and has since been translated into many languages, including Danish.
The comic takes place in 50 BC. and follows the gifted little Gallic warrior Asterix. It takes place at a time, when Romans had occupied all of France, except Asterix's small gallery town, which withstood the occupiers. The Gauls love to eat wild boar and fight - and have the advantage that their druid Miraculix brews potions that make them invincible. On his challenging missions, Asterix is most often accompanied by his friend Obelix and the dog Idefix.
With great creativity and humor, the cartoon creates good stories, using parodies of historical events, whimsical Latin quotes, and a humorous dialogue and drawing style.
Several of the Asterix comics have since been made into a movie, and here at Kino Club you can go on adventures with Asterix in:
Asterix And The Olympics: The young gal Romantix is deeply in love with Princess Irina, but Irina must, against her will, marry Caesar's son Brutus. In trying to save herself from the marriage, she challenges Brutus and Romantix. Whoever wins the Olympics is allowed to marry her.
